This basketball season, every swish from the free throw line is making an impact far beyond the court.
We’re thrilled to announce that Self-eSTEM is one of four community organizations selected as a 2024–2025 beneficiary of the Golden State Warriors’ “Free Throws for Futures” campaign, presented by PG&E through the Warriors Community Foundation.
This high-impact initiative is channeling the power of sports to create pathways to educational equity—and as of April 7, 2025, the Warriors have sunk 1,291 free throws, translating to an incredible $645,500 raised to uplift educational outcomes for Bay Area youth.
As an Oakland-based nonprofit committed to building a strong pipeline of future STEM leaders, particularly girls from underrepresented communities, being a part of this campaign is more than an honor—it’s a game changer.
Funds raised through Free Throws for Futures directly support our mission to ignite curiosity, confidence, and leadership in STEM for girls who need it most. Whether it’s through our Early STEM Immersion programs, hands-on robotics workshops, or annual STEM Exploration Camps, we’re ensuring that more girls see themselves as future engineers, scientists, coders, and innovators.
When the Warriors shoot, our girls soar.
The season’s not over—and neither is the impact. You can be part of this winning streak for education in a few powerful ways:
📣 Spread the word about Self-eSTEM and our role in Free Throws for Futures. Share this blog and tag @SelfeSTEM and @warriorscommunity on social.
💜 Donate directly to support our programs and help us serve even more girls: www.selfestem.org/donate
🏀 Celebrate every free throw knowing it helps build futures, spark dreams, and elevate the next generation of STEM leaders.
We’re grateful to the Warriors Community Foundation and PG&E for investing in the future—and for recognizing that equity in education is a team sport.
Let’s keep the momentum going. Every point counts. Every dollar makes a difference. Every girl deserves the shot.
