“Currently, entire communities are locked out of the education and training that will define the Future of Work.” — Adamaka Ajaelo, Founding Executive Director, Self-eSTEM
Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concern, it’s reshaping how we work, hire, and build businesses right now. By 2030, an estimated 60% of U.S. jobs will have core tasks significantly modified by AI. Yet the communities with the most to gain from this shift are often the least equipped to navigate it.
Workforce professionals, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and career changers across the country are being asked to adapt to tools and systems they’ve never been trained to use. The result: a growing Digital and AI Literacy Gap that threatens to leave entire generations behind, not because of lack of talent, but because of lack of access.
Self-eSTEM is changing that. One workshop at a time.
Four times a year, Self-eSTEM hosts our Community-Based Digital & AI Literacy Workshops designed specifically for adults ages 18 and up, from recent grads entering the workforce to seasoned professionals, and Baby Boomers navigating new tools on the job. These are not lectures or passive presentations. They are hands-on, skills-based training experiences led by instructors with real Silicon Valley and industry expertise.
Workshops are available both in-person in the San Francisco Bay Area and virtually, expanding access for participants across the country. With national expansion underway, including planned events in Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, St. Louis, and New York, this program is built to scale.

Self-eSTEM’s curriculum is structured as a progressive learning journey. Community workshop participants move through tiers at their own pace, gaining credentials and confidence at every stage.
This tiered approach transforms participants from consumers of technology into creators, a proven pathway to economic mobility and access to the highest-growing, highest-paying career fields in the country.
Recent Digital & AI Workshops
Every quarterly workshop is designed around a specific theme, ensuring participants leave with focused, immediately applicable skills. Here’s a look at the sessions we’ve delivered so far:
Workshop – Digital Literacy & AI in Everyday Life
Building on the foundation of our first session, this workshop explored how AI tools can be applied across everyday contexts, from managing your career and business to navigating digital spaces with confidence. Participants practiced real-world scenarios and began developing their own AI workflows.
Workshop – AI Made Simple & Safe
This community workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, what it is, how it works, and how to use it responsibly. Attendees gained hands-on experience with AI tools and left with a clear, confident foundation for navigating an AI-powered world safely and ethically.
Workshop – AI Made Simple & Safe 2.0: Creating Custom AI Agents
Our third community workshop took the learning deeper. At this “Brunch & Learn” event, participants moved beyond basic AI use to design and deploy their own custom AI agents, automated assistants that handle everyday tasks without constant hands-on input. Professionals, educators, and community members left with practical tools to save time, streamline workflows, and lead with confidence in an AI-powered world.
Self-eSTEM’s Community-Based Digital & AI Literacy Workshops aren’t just an education initiative, they’re a workforce pipeline. The adults who walk through these workshops are the same professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders your organization needs to recruit, support, and invest in.
