Siara joined Self-eSTEM at age 11 and quickly found a place where her love for math, technology, and computers could thrive. Now a college senior at UC Davis she’s grown into a leader who helps others find their voice in STEM, just as she once did.
Before Siara stepped into her first Self-eSTEM program, she already had an early love for numbers, computers, and technology. But what she didn’t yet have was the confidence to imagine herself fully belonging in those spaces. That changed the moment she joined Self-eSTEM at age 11.
In a supportive environment filled with hands-on learning, mentors who looked like her, and peers who shared her interests, Siara began to see her future differently. “Self-eSTEM has been such a wonderful program,” she said. “It’s helped me come out of my shell, learn to collaborate, and meet people who share my interests. It’s been a truly wonderful growing experience.”
Over time, Siara didn’t just learn STEM skills she built leadership and confidence. Her transformation came full circle when she became a Junior Facilitator, guiding younger girls through the same journey she once began. As someone who once doubted her voice, she now uses it to uplift others making sure no girl has to wonder if she belongs in STEM.
Today, Siara is a college senior at UC Davis, preparing to launch her career with a strong foundation in both STEM and self-confidence. Her story is a powerful example of what happens when young women are supported, seen, and celebrated.
Your support fuels the confidence, curiosity, and leadership of girls who are often overlooked in traditional educational spaces. By investing in Self-eSTEM’s mission, you’re creating access, opportunity, and community for the next generation of innovators.
