Kennedi’s journey with Self-eSTEM began when she was only 10 years old but even at that young age, the experience sparked something powerful. In a world dominated by screens and isolation, Self-eSTEM showed her the value of being present, working as a team, and using her voice to solve real-world problems.
She entered the program with curiosity and an open mind. Over the years, she found more than just academic support; she discovered that she loved math and that she was good at it. With each project and collaboration, her confidence grew. “It’s important for people of my generation to collaborate and be in the same room problem solving,” she shared. “To take time away from their phones and work together.”
Through hands-on learning, team-based challenges, and the support of women mentors who looked like her, Kennedi grew into a young woman ready to lead. Her time with Self-eSTEM helped her build the foundation of confidence, critical thinking, and communication that now guides her as a college student.
Today, Kennedi is studying at North Carolina Central University, continuing to develop her talents and prepare for a future where she’ll no doubt make an impact in STEM and beyond. The past two summers, Kennedi has paid it forward and joined Self-eSTEM as a facilitator for our STEM Exploration Camp sharing her love for STEM with young Innovators in our program.
Your support fuels the confidence, curiosity, and leadership of girls who are often overlooked in traditional educational spaces. By investing in Self-eSTEM’s mission, you’re creating access, opportunity, and community for the next generation of innovators.
