Ellyana was just 11 years old when she first stepped into Self-eSTEM, a space that instantly felt different. Unlike other STEM programs where she often found herself being the only person of color in the room, Self-eSTEM offered her something deeper: community, visibility, and representation. It wasn’t just about learning STEM it was about belonging.
Over years of growth, exploration, and sisterhood, Ellyana has gained far more than academic knowledge. Through her journey, she learned that she can succeed in STEM. “Self-eSTEM gave me the confidence to try things out of my comfort zone,” she shared. From speaking up in groups to pushing herself in new STEM challenges, her confidence has become one of her greatest strengths.
But what drives Ellyana most now is her desire to give back. She’s not just thinking about her own path, she’s thinking about the next generation. “I want to be a role model for young children interested in STEM,” she said. “I often felt alone being the only Black female participating in STEM programming. I want to bridge that gap.”
Now a high school senior, Ellyana is actively seeking opportunities to expand her STEM skills and connect with a network of mentors and peers who reflect her experiences. With leadership in her heart and purpose in her voice, she’s ready to be the change she once needed.
Your support fuels the confidence, curiosity, and leadership of youth and young adults who are often overlooked in traditional educational spaces. By investing in Self-eSTEM’s mission, you’re creating access, opportunity, and community for the next generation of innovators.
