Meet Cassydi | Self-eSTEM Impact Story

When Cassydi first joined Self-eSTEM, she was eager to explore and learn, drawn to a space where curiosity was encouraged and creativity was celebrated. What she found was more than a STEM program, it was a community. “Self-eSTEM is like a family,” she shared. “I’m creating new memories, going on field trips, and meeting new people.”

Year after year, Cassydi returned, deepening her interest in STEM and discovering what truly excited her. Through hands-on projects in coding, robotics, and technology, she began to see new possibilities for her future. “When I am at the Self-eSTEM program, I feel like I am expanding my knowledge,” she said. “I like doing STEM projects and dealing with computers. I love coding and robotics.” Those experiences helped her realize that a STEM career was not only possible, but attainable. “I think I could pursue a STEM career because I learned so much from this program.”

As her confidence and skills grew, so did her leadership. In 2024, Cassydi supported the Robotics Program as a Marketing Intern, capturing content and creating reels to showcase the work of her peers. In 2025, she stepped into an even more impactful role as a Junior Facilitator during summer camp. Reflecting on that transition, she explained, “The difference between becoming an intern… is not actually doing the projects, but influencing and showing them things that they could do.” It marked a shift from participant to mentor, one she embraced with purpose.

Now a high school junior, Cassydi continues to grow as both a learner and a leader. Her journey is a reflection of what sustained support, exposure, and trust can create over time. As her parent shared, “I love the mission and the vision… being able to expose her to different career paths and connect different industries to tech has been such a great opportunity.” Cassydi’s story shows what’s possible when young people are given the space to explore, lead, and imagine themselves in STEM, year after year.
