Innovator Impact | Taylor’s Story

When Taylor first joined Self-eSTEM, she was looking for a space where she could explore science beyond the classroom. “I really like science and I would like to be in a program that allows me to explore more science things,” she shared. She was also seeking connection, hoping to meet new friends and learn alongside other girls who shared her curiosity.

Through several STEM Exploration Camps and hands-on programs, Taylor quickly found that space. As she engaged in projects and collaborated with her peers, her confidence continued to grow. “Self-eSTEM helped me realize that I have a place in STEM,” she said. Over time, she developed skills not only in technical areas, but in communication and leadership. She shared that she has grown in “working better with a team, becoming more confident sharing my ideas, and understanding how a business is started.”

Her growth became even more evident through her participation in the Digital and Generative AI Bootcamp, where her team earned 1st place in the Innovator Showcase. Diving into emerging technology expanded her perspective and strengthened her confidence. “I feel like I learned a lot about AI this week,” she shared, reflecting both her curiosity and her ability to apply new knowledge.

That impact extends beyond the program itself. Her mother shared that Taylor brought her learning home, excitedly explaining concepts to her family and even teaching her younger sisters. Over time, Taylor has also taken on new leaderships role within her own household and beyond, helping guide her sisters as they begin their own journeys in Self-eSTEM.

Today, Taylor continues to grow as a confident Innovator, strengthening her voice, leadership, and technical skills with each experience. Her journey reflects what happens when curiosity is nurtured and when young girls are given the space to explore, collaborate, and truly see themselves in STEM.
