When Regina first joined Self-eSTEM, she was drawn to the creativity and excitement of building and designing. “I want to be in STEAM camp because it is fun to build and design,” she shared. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a consistent passion for hands-on learning and teamwork.
Year after year, Regina returned to STEM Exploration Camp, each time gaining new skills and confidence. She found joy not only in the projects, but in the people around her. “It is fun to meet new people and work with others,” she said. “I love the Self-eSTEM program. It allows me to work with my peers and work towards a goal.” Through collaboration and shared problem-solving, she began to see her own growth. “Every year I’m getting better and better and learning more and more.”
That growth came to life in a major way during the 2025 STEM Camp Innovator Showcase, where Regina and her sister, Farrah, earned 3rd place for their robotics project and presentation. The experience reflected not only her technical development, but her ability to work as a team, communicate ideas, and bring a concept to life.
As her experience deepened, so did her understanding of why STEM matters. Regina recognizes the importance of being prepared for a world shaped by technology. “Learning STEM is important since technology advances more and more each day,” she explained. “Programs like this allow young girls to experience what it would be like to have a career in the STEM field.” That awareness reflects not only her learning, but her growing confidence in navigating and contributing to those spaces.
Now in her fourth year attending STEM camp, Regina continues to show up with excitement and purpose. “It’s the highlight of my summer,” she shared. As an eighth grader, she is building a strong foundation in STEM while developing the confidence to collaborate, present, and take on new challenges. Her journey is a testament to the power of consistency, returning year after year and growing stronger each time.
