Before Amyna ever joined Self-eSTEM, she was already familiar with the program. She remembers going with her dad to pick up her older sister from camp and wishing she could be part of the experience. “When I was younger… I always wanted to go,” she shared. That early exposure sparked her excitement for STEM and set the stage for her own journey.
Once she joined, Amyna quickly leaned into her natural strengths and interests. “I am really, really good at math and I love science,” she said. With support from programs like STEM Exploration Camp, Robotics, and Digital and AI learning, she has been able to explore coding and build on the foundation she started at home. Prior to joining the Robotics programming, Amyna shared “my dad gave me a coding set and I would like to learn more about coding,” showing both curiosity and motivation to grow.
Through hands-on projects and collaborative learning, Amyna continues to build confidence and excitement around STEM. She understands the importance of these skills for her future, sharing that “in the future, pretty much everything will have to do with STEM.” That awareness reflects a growing understanding of how what she’s learning now connects to what’s ahead.
Today, Amyna remains an active and engaged participant who looks forward to every opportunity to learn. “I really like to participate in Self-eSTEM and look forward to all the programs,” she shared. Her journey is a reflection of how early exposure, family encouragement, and consistent access to STEM experiences can spark lasting curiosity and confidence.
