From the beginning, Adamaka knew she wanted more exposure to science and technology. “I want to increase my knowledge in STEM,” she shared. “I want to learn about technology that I don’t have at my school.” Her interest in hands-on learning and problem-solving made Self-eSTEM a natural fit, giving her the opportunity to explore new concepts in an engaging and supportive environment.
Through STEM Exploration Camps and Digital and AI programming, Adamaka discovered a passion for building and creating. Robotics quickly became one of her favorite experiences. “If I had to describe Self-eSTEM in one word, it would be helpful because it teaches you how to become an engineer,” she said. “My favorite memory… is robotics because it’s fun building a robot.” These hands-on projects helped her not only develop technical skills but also strengthen her ability to collaborate and work in teams.
As she continued in the program, Adamaka’s curiosity expanded into new areas like artificial intelligence. “I want to participate because I want to learn more about robotics and AI,” she shared. “I like working in group projects.” With each experience, she built confidence in her abilities and began applying what she learned beyond the program itself.
Now, Adamaka reflects on how much she has grown. “Self-eSTEM has helped me grow because it teaches me things that I never knew before,” she said. “It helps me in class to know what to do because some of the things I already know.” Her journey shows how early exposure to STEM, combined with hands-on learning and consistent support, can spark both confidence and long-term interest.
Today, Adamaka continues to explore her passion for STEM, building the skills and mindset that will support her future goals. Her story is a reminder that when curiosity is nurtured early, it can grow into confidence, capability, and a clear vision for what’s possible.
